If we're to add fancy input/output to the tracker, I'd rather go the other way:
allow a safe subset of ReST, enough to handle source highlighting, lists, etc.,
and render it with Sphinx.

Agree.  I just pop out to vi when I need to do editing tasks that are
hard in the text box.

Agree here, as well.  However, I'm not certain that the benefit would be
significant, and there might be issues that naive new users would trip
over, which would be a negative (and is also a negative for the fancy
javascript, IMO...consider that pasting code snippets is an important
part of updating tracker issues).

I agree that this is feature creep, and not really needed in day-to-day usage of
the tracker. If this were contributed, it should be contributed upstream, i.e.
to roundup itself, rather than to this installation of roundup.
